A Public Gathering to share memories and stories of Dr. Robert J. “Bob” McCullough will be 10:30 – 11:30 A. M. Saturday, April 28, 2012 ~ Pulliam Funeral Home, Oblong, Illinois
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to the Austin D. McCullough Education Fund with envelopes available at or may be mailed to the funeral home or deposited at any of the First Financial Bank locations.
Dr. Robert J. “Bob” McCullough, 62, Naperville, Illinois and formerly of Oblong, Illinois passed away at 3:47 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at this residence. Born in Austin, Texas on March 26, 1950, he was the son of John Robert “J. R.” McCullough and Lela L. (Wiman) McCullough. He was a Veterinarian and Vice-President of Crete Oil Company. He was a graduate of Crete-Monee High School ~ Class 0f 1968 where he made 1st Team “All Chicago” in Basketball. He earned his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa University – May 1977 in Veterinary Medicine specializing in Equine, he also donated his time to the Humane Society and friends with small animals in need. He was listed in Who’s Who in Veterinary Science and Medicine, Second Edition, 1991 – 1992. He developed new equine medications and products which some were used by the U. S. Equestrian Olympic Team in 1984. He was a big fan of the Chicago Bulls and Chicago Bears. He will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues, clients and especially his dog Petunia.
Survivors include his son, Austin D. McCullough; his mother, Lela McCullough; a brother and sister-in-law, John A. & Lynda McCullough; a sister and brother-in-law, Gayle & John Fazzini; three nephews, Jeff Meek, Dr. Douglas Meek and James N. McCullough; and a special friend, Jill Cotte.
Preceding Bob in death was his father; one brother, James W. “Jimbo” McCullough and former wife Catherine McCullough.
A private family graveside service will follow the public gathering.
